With the kind support from US Embassy in Cambodia, CICP hosted the Launching Event for the Sixth Edition of the Journal of Greater Mekong Studies (JGMS) on 20 October 2022 at AmCam Exchange and via Zoom.
The JGMS has filled a significant gap in the policy and scholarly literature on the Mekong River and Mekong-related issues. In the 6th Edition of JGMS, several authors examine the development of ASEAN, its future, and the challenges that its faces – particularly in the context of the issues that confront the Mekong states. Mr. Jigar Bhatt, Deputy ASEAN Coordinator U.S. Embassy Phnom Penh also delivered his remarks on the US views regarding the JGMS and highlighted the US enduring commitments toward the Mekong countries.
The event was then followed by the Panel Discussion by two regional experts on ASEAN and Mekong Development (by Dr. Apichai Sunchindah and Contemporary Developments in Sino-American Competition and Southeast Asia (by Dr. Bradley Murg).
At the same time, CICP also marks another seminal event to formally launched CICP’s re-branding and new logo, as part of CICP’s institutional building for more holistic and sustainable. With the ensuing structural reform, CICP is in a better position to create a more vibrant regional platform for open discussion and debate of the major security, diplomatic, environmental, and development issues confronting Cambodia, the Greater Mekong Sub-region, and East and Southeast Asia as a whole.
