On Tuesday 13 September 2022, Amb. Pou Sothirak, Executive Director of CICP, attended the Readout from the Mekong-U.S. Partnership Track 1.5 Policy Dialogue on Human Resources and Capacity Building, co-organized by the Cambodian Institute for Cooperation and Peace (CICP) and the Stimson Center at AmCam Exchange. He mentioned that this event is organized to highlight key takeaways among shared insights gathered from the 4th Conference of the Mekong-U.S. Partnership Track 1.5 Policy Dialogue with a thematic focus on Human Recourses and Capacity Building which was held successfully on 21-22 July 2022 in Phnom Penh. All participants then have openly debated and shared their perspectives on key policy challenges and best practices from the US, Mekong countries, and lessons learned from other development partner countries on the need related to education, vocational and skills training, healthcare, STEM and the 4th industrial revolution.
Ms. Amparo Garcia, Cultural Affairs Officer of the U.S. Embassy in Cambodia were invited to provide her comments on the essence of the Mekong-U.S. Partnership which was adopted in September, 2020 at the First Mekong-U.S. Partnership Ministerial Meeting.
There were three distinguished speakers, two of them joined via Zoom, who have deliberated on key important issues related to Transformational Education and Skills Training (by Ms. Phunyanuch Pattanotai, Executive Director at Generation Thailand), Education and Training to support Renewable Energy and Sustainable Development (by Ms. Sokphalkun Out, Engagement Program Manager at EngeryLab Cambodia), and Health Session (by Mr. Brian Eyler, Southeast Asia Program Director at the Stimson Center).
