Now accepting applications for the 2023 Asia Foundation Development Fellows: Emerging Leadership for Asia’s Future program.
The Asia Foundation is searching for its ninth cohort of highly talented Development Fellows. Applications will be accepted through Sept. 16, 2022.
Launched in 2014 to engage and empower a dynamic community of emerging leaders from across Asia, the Asia Foundation Development Fellows program brings together a group of accomplished individuals, under 40 years of age, who are deeply committed to building an inclusive Asia and securing lasting change on the ground. Now in its ninth year, the program includes 94 current and alumni fellows across Asia, forming an active and inspirational network of the region’s most promising leaders from diverse cultures, countries, and work environments, including government, civil society, academia, and social enterprise.
This year-long career advancement program takes on a multifaceted approach to leadership development which includes two intensive – in-person – modules, one in Asia and a second in the United States, as well as year-round support through mentorship, coaching and a flexible grant. The in-person coursework explores Fellows’ leadership styles, helps fellows to effectively articulate their story, and develops their approach to problem solving and innovative thinking.
The program will commence in February 2023 with a two-week Leadership Training Program and study tour in Laos, where Fellows will dive into their authentic leadership and meet with development practitioners to understand the mechanics of change on the ground. Immediately following the program in Laos, Fellows will join program alumni for the second Forum on Leadership for Asia’s Future, a weekend of highly interactive professional exchange and networking.
In October 2023, the Fellows will visit San Francisco, Washington, D.C. and another city in the US for a two-week Leadership Dialogue and Exchange program, visiting innovative organizations while continuing to examine their authentic leadership journey. A flexible professional development award of US $5,000 will also be provided to each Fellow to use throughout the Fellowship year. Additionally, Fellows will be matched with a mentor tailored to their background and professional interests and have access to a fixed number of one-on-one executive coaching session with a professional leadership coach.
