Three eminent speakers were invited to give their insight, recommendation, and opinion on how ASEAN digital transformation can be accelerated with the case study taken from Cambodia.
Below are they key takeaways from the roundtable:
- For the success of post-Covid-19 economic recovery, all countries need effective digital transformation.
- A good digital transformation program, once it is developed, would enhance Cambodia’s ability to leapfrog in the digital age, allowing the country to accelerate the catching-up mode in using digital tools to minimize the economic and social dislocations.
- However, Cambodia still faces challenges in the formulation of digital policy, insufficient digital infrastructure and shortage of human talent. As such Cambodia must accelerate investment in the digital domain to catch up.
- Cambodia needs a policy for accelerating digital transformation emphasizing creating the right ecosystem that allows a good human capital pool, sound physical infrastructure, savvy entrepreneurs, and enlightened government all working together is the formula to accelerate digital transformation.
- Government must be more resilient to set a development framework to maximize the benefit of digitalization and minimize risks, invests in the supply of developer skill for all citizen, provides market-driven digital product supply and demand, promote more business opportunity in the digital domain, and provide a quality ICT infrastructure to allow businesses innovations.
