Posted date: June 23, 2021

On 23 June 2021, Mr. Him Raksmey, CICP Research Fellow, joined the launching of Report on Covid-19 and Implications for Atrocities Prevention: Lessons from East Asia by the Asia Pacific Partnership for Atrocity Prevention (APPAP) Working Group. Seven countries were chosen to be case studies namely China, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Myanmar, Philippines and Singapore. Key findings include: increased livelihood insecurity, increased hate speech, increased domestic violence and economic deprivation, and aggravation of existing vulnerabilities for vulnerable groups such as refugees and asylum seekers. Such issues require holistic national and regional efforts to address them.

He congratulated the report lead writers: Prof. Mely Caballero-Anthony and Dr. Noel Morada as well as other contributors for producing the timely report on these important issues.
