Regional Workshop on ASEAN at the Crossroads: Fostering Collective Strengths for Addressing Regional Issues | 10-11 June 2021

CICP and partners, successfully concluded the two-day online regional workshop on “ASEAN at the Crossroads: Fostering Collective Strengths for Addressing Regional Issues” on 10-11 June 2021. On the first day, open and frank debates centered on how to encourage ASEAN as a whole to prioritize the Mekong issues and promote regional approaches to non-traditional issues in Mekong and ASEAN. On the second day, discussions involved strategic developments and ways to promote cooperative solutions in the South China Sea dispute. Regional experts expressed concern over the slow progress of the COC and the intensification of US – China rivalry which may aggravate the situation in the SCS and put a lot of pressure on ASEAN. All participants engaged in productive exchanges of views with distinguished speakers.
