On 18 May, CICP and SSILR (from Kunming, China) organized a one full day seminar to discuss the under-explored theme of US and China Collaboration: Practical Pathways. Experts from US, China, Cambodia, Philippines, Singapore, Korea and Singapore were invited to shared their perspectives.
There were many takeaways, including: a good discussion on what is the core element underpinning U.S.-China rivalry, ranging from ideology, lack of trust, trade and technology wars, world order post-Covid-19; despite serious differences, opportunities to work together exist in such areas as: public health, climate changes and environmental protection, humanitarian assistance, regional security, digital security, technology application and governance, and think tank exchanges, public health, non-proliferation and nuclear disarmament, energy security and other Non-traditional Security related to the Mekong issues; how US and China can collaborate to control and eradicate covid-19 and how to have successful exist policy for economic recovery? All experts agree that China and the US need to work together rather than against one another for the common good for the world.
The webinar was interactive and successfully hosted with nearly one hundred participants joining.
