In that Oxfam and CICP share the goal of working to ensure the protection of the Mekong river and the individuals who rely upon it and following three consultative meetings between staff of both institutions, Oxfam (Cambodia) and CICP have partnered to engage in a research project exploring how to support and positively impact the development of the new Lancang-Mekong Cooperation (LMC) Water Resource Sharing Platform such that the outcomes thereof are both directly beneficial to local, riparian communities as well as to facilitate increased “voice” on the part of those communities.
The final report – prepared by CICP’s research team in close collaboration with Oxfam will be released in July of this year, following a conference bringing together a wide range of civil society organizations and grassroots actors with an interest in the Mekong and its future sustainability.
