CICP is pleased to announce its partnership in the “EU – ASEAN Think-Tank Dialogue for Strategic Partnership.” On December 14, 2020, the European Commission Delegation to Thailand awarded The Netherlands Institute of International Relations (Clingendael) and The Cambodian Institute for Cooperation and Peace (CICP) an initiative to jointly cooperate on the execution of a series of projects for the next three years (February 2021 – February 2024).  On 19 March, the Clingendael Institute and CICP signed the Cooperation Agreement detailing the framework for cooperation. The theme of the first year is the question of digitalization. The scope of these projects centers on the following outputs: 2 digital expert roundtables (bringing together 20 experts from both ASEAN and the EU); 1 open digital conference per year; and 2 dialogues with civil society organizations per year.

To kick start these projects, Clingendael and CICP are planning to host the first Digital Expert Roundtable on April 29th to be followed by a second Digital dialogue with civil society organizations on May 24th. Experts from ASEAN and the EU have been invited to raise awareness of the importance of digital matters and to increase mutual understanding between the state of play in the digital domain in both the ASEAN and EU regions. The experts will deliberate on concrete topics that can facilitate and deepen collaboration between the ASEAN and EU in the field of digitalization.
