With funding from Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and managed by The Asia Foundation (TAF) under Data and Dialogue for Development in Cambodia, CICP will hold a community dialogue entitled “Climate Change, Gender, and the Mekong: A Community Dialogue” on November 21, 2024 at the Sunway Hotel in Phnom Penh.
The aim of this dialogue is to bring together key stakeholders, such as policymakers, civil society organizations, women’s rights advocates, and development specialists, to discuss practical measures to mitigate the effects of climate change. The discussion will focus on how women in Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam have experienced the impacts of climate change as well as how local and international cooperation might help them alleviate these impacts. This event is designed to facilitate a constructive exchange of ideas on how best to minimize the long-term causes of climate change on vulnerable communities. It will also look at ways to empower women to become leaders in the search for environmental sustainability as they are uniquely positioned to advocate for and implement solutions at the community level.
