On 18 December 2020, CICP hosted a webinar on “China’s Rise in the Post-Pandemic World” to deliberate on various issues related to the future position and roles of China when Covid-19 subsides. The meeting was productive and interactive between knowledgeable speakers and attendees. Key takeaways include:
– In the post-pandemic world, Cold War 2.0 might not yet happen but the US-China competition is expected to be intensified due to trends deriving complexity of power relations between the two in years to come.
– US-China competition, if rightly managed, can lead to cooperation which is good for the two superpowers and the world. Each side should not push each other to the corner or else conflicts might arise.
CICP thanks all esteemed role players and participants for making the webinar a success and appreciates SSILR for its supports.
